Laser protection according to EN 207

The norm DIN EN 207 demands laser stress test, where both, filter and frame must withstand direct laser hit for 5 seconds or 50 pulses with an energy load according to the protection level to be marked CE. The limit values of Laser Class 1 must be withheld on the eye side.

Laser protection according to EN 208

This standard regulates the selection and requirements for adjustment safety glasses. Adjustment protection is only useful and permissible within the visible spectrum, which is defined by law for the wavelength range of 400 nm - 700 nm. Adjustment goggles attenuate the power of the laser to values that apply to class 2 lasers (<1 mW for continuous wave lasers). These goggles are considered safe if the eyelid closure reflex is working.

Laser protection according to EN 12254

This European Standard applies to large area protection for installations in workplaces where laser radiation with a maximum average power of 100 W of 30 J per single pulse within the spectral range of 180 nm to 10600 nm is used.

Laser protection according to OD value

Within the regulation of the American Standard ANSI Z 136.1-7, the manufacturer of laser safety goggles specifies the optical protective effect exclusively on the basis of the optical density (OD) of the filters used. Optical density (OD or D(λ)) is the attenuation of light passing through an optical filter. The higher the value, the greater the attenuation.
